The Opportunity Fund
Your donation will open opportunities. Give what you can to build a sharing - and caring - Manor Park.
The Opportunity Fund is used to send those facing financial barriers to MPCC programs free of charge or at a reduced rate.
Did you know that Manor Park has one of the highest incidences of child poverty in Ottawa? We have more single parent families living under the poverty line than in the rest of the city. And, did you know that we have a higher percentage of senior adults than the city in general?
As a community, let's make sure that no resident misses an opportunity to enjoy our sports, arts or summer camp because of financial barriers.
The Opportunity Fund has been established to take your voluntary donation and pool it with donations from others to support access to our recreational programs for those in need. The Manor Park Community Council (MPCC) is a not-for-profit organization so we cannot offer charitable tax receipts.
Our goal is to raise another $10,000!
We want to send 10 children to Summer Day Camps in Manor Park, enrol 10 senior adults in our HeartWise fitness programs, send 10 chilren to recreational programs like cooking or D&D, and bring 10 new adults into our arts programs.
If you, or someone you know, could benefit from The Opportunity Fund, just let us know. (Yes, it is just that easy.)
Since 2019, donations from residents like you have opened these opportunities:
16 children joined our soccer program,
12 children played baseball,
8 children joined Jr. NBA basketball
2 children participated in Cooking Club,
and over 20 summer camp spots were filled!
